B-Sides CD Should be called "Besides", here's why-

Take the B-sides that never got on an album but were released as B-sides. ALSO, add to that any leftover tracks that don't make it on the new album and any other leftovers they have laying around. Call is "Besides" because it has the B-sides on it and also it has the stuff that is beside the rest of the material. Set those songs beside the stack of ones we will put nt he album. They are "besides". Chime it if you like.

So on top of the "first fifteen" songs which have never been released (see my link to the Jon Polares interview about that), you're talking a LOT of material: B-sides, album sound-tracks, EPs, remixes, covers, promos etc...probably more than a double album. This is not meant to be a definitive list, but to give an idea of the scale:

Kyle Petty, son of Richard

Cold Bitch

Sub-Pop Rock City

HIV Baby

Blind Dogs

Into the Void (Sealth)

Toy Box

Early versions of FOBD (of which there were so many Chris commented it could have made an EP on its own)

Jerry Garcia's Finger

A splice of Space Jam

Bleed Together

She's a Politician

Karaoke

Birth Ritual

Heretic

Like Suicide (acoustic)

Girl U Want

Touch Me

Show Me

I Don't Care About You

I Can't Give you Anything

Stray Cat Blues

Come Together

Fresh Deadly Roses

Heartfist etc (that song HAS to be recorded properly)

Christi

Homicidal Suicidal

Big Bottom / Earache my Eye

Waiting for the sun

Communication Breakdown

Black Rain (I'm counting Black Rain and Bleed together seeing as they were released on Best Ofs, so to speak, vs albums)

She Likes Surprises (didn't make the US release of Super, unless it's been added now...?)

Beast (Kim mentioned it once, might be on the first fifteen)

Thank You Falettin Me Be Mice Elf Again

Please feel free to add / amend my list as you see fit, I know it's not complete. Just don't be a douche about it.

I like. The only thing I'd say is that cover songs and alternate versions of stuff that has already been released and songs that were in movies shouldn't be included. Heretic ws on the Soundtrack CD for the movie "Pump up the Volume", which had a great soundtrack by that way. So it has been released on Cd. My idea is for stuff that has never been released on CD plus b-sides that were released on singles. Then people who only buy the albums can get the b-sides and all the stuff that never got released and can't be found on CD elsewhere. Thanks for the list, I think it's great.

I kind of agree that covers shouldn't be included, but blind dogs better be!

The whole point of them putting together a box set was to include everything that wasnt on a studio album into one package.  Alot of that stuff, covers and movie songs have been long out of print. The only way for fans to buy that stuff now is by combing through ebay and the band wont see any of that money. If we ever get b-sides I hope its a one or two hundred dollar box set full of everything.

Ya I agree, I was talking more about if they make it just a regular album like A-Sides, that they shouldn't clutter it up with covers.

Oh, I got you. If it's to be everyting "Besides" the studio albums, then I agree. But if it's only to be a one or two CD set, then I thought to save space, then just give us the previously unrelesed stuff. But yeah, if the stuff you talked about can't be found anywhere else, even if it has been previously released, then yeah I want it to be included. Thanks for the response and I hope that's what they do.

I basically just trawled for everything I could find that wasn't on the standard releases of the six LPs, which as far as I know are the only releases still being printed (?) As to what should be on the B Sides, I'd love everything, but suppose that's not really feasible. If they wanted to put out a definitive Box Set, count me in for one copy...

The picture is murky from the start seeing as Screaming Life / Fopp was originally two EPs, and for some reason they called the Flower EP an EP even though it's only got 3 songs on it, which could easily count as a single. But this is the big 6:

Screaming Life / Fopp

Loud Love

UltramegaOK

Badmotorfinger

Superunknown

Down on the Upside

So my list of "B" stuff included the SOMMs EP, which I think had a pretty limited run and is out of print, the Flower EP, all the singles (the ones I have at least), songs from extended versions of the albums such as the regional Superunknown (Japan? Australia? I forget) which had She Likes Surprises, movie soundtracks, "greatest hits" (A Sides / Telephantasm), promos etc.

As for what should make the B-Sides album, don't forget that remixes made the LPs (Fopp remix on Screaming Life / Fopp), and extended versions of the albums (Jerry Garcia's finger etc on the extended version of DOTU), covers made the albums as well and in fact were the focus of a whole EP (Fopp)...etc. So what's "album official" and not isn't cut and dried...

Oh and I forgot the alternate version of Big Dumb Sex (Steve Fisk remix?) which is on Louder than Love or something...(?)

I need to know where to fit in Black Cat, Stoler Prayer, Heartfist, Unholy War etc, were they just Cornell or were they Soundgarden?

And hot damn I need to get a copy of that cassette recording with the First 15, that's like the Holy Grail =) Come on Kim!

I would like to see Burden In My Hand from SNL and the rest of the MTV Live set mixed with all the other things. I once downloaded the MTV set from a not-so-legal source, but then something happened, and the file was lost & the place where the quality version used to be is down forever..

I wish SG would give us something soon...
