Louder Than Love

Soundgarden’s second studio album, and their first to be released through a major label (A&M) on September 5, 1989. It was the band’s first album to chart on the Billboard Top 200.

Two singles were released from the album, “Loud Love” (1989) and “Hands All Over” (1990).  Of the other tracks, “Get On The Snake” is in the unusual time signature 9/4; “Big Dumb Sex” is, according to Kim Thayil, ” a parody of the whole genre of stupid rock”.  Also according to Thayil, the album’s own style was “as much influenced by British bands like Killing Joke and Bauhaus as…by heavy metal.”
